How do households recover after civil war? How do households make decisions about their lives and livelihoods during transitions to peace? What is the impact of demobilization programs on local economies and households? Do these processes of recovery fuel renewed conflicts? What are the most important challenges to durable peace and preventing the recurrence of violence in post-conflict settings?
These are the themes of the 14thAnnual Workshop of the Households in Conflict Network, to take place in Medellin, Colombia. We invite papers that shed light on the micro-level processes that shape post-conflict settings. We are particularly interested in new evidence on the effects of peace agreements on violence dynamics and social welfare, on the effects and design of demobilization, reintegration and employment programs, on the role of media during post-conflict, on the return of formerly displaced households, on innovative ways to collect data during conflict and post-conflict and on the impact of prevention and peace programs. As usual, papers on the causes, functioning and consequences of violent conflict are also welcome, provided they have a strong empirical component.
The workshop will take place at the Universidad EAFIT in Medellín, Colombia.
