Humanitarian crises are complex situations where the demand for aid far exceeds its supply. So each dollar spent should be used effectively. Impact evaluations of humanitarian assistance can help ensure that this is so, and also respond to the increasing call for evidence based policy in the sector.
Conducting impact evaluations can be challenging, especially in humanitarian situations. Impact evaluations of both rapid-onset and slow-onset protracted crises must deal with disrupted communities, mismatch between resources and need, absence of baseline data and, finding a valid comparison group.
The seminar will speak about challenges faced in conducting impact evaluations in humanitarian situations and how to deal with those challenges in real situations.
